Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – Arte Laguna Prize 2026
Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – Arte Laguna Prize 2026
With Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a body of work has reached a point of completion that goes beyond the making of individual pieces. Illness, Hunger, War and Death were initially developed as autonomous sculptural rings, each defined by its own materiality, position and narrative.
The next question emerged naturally: what happens when these four works are read together? Not as an illustration of myth, but as a structured sequence of conditions shaping our present.
From this reflection, the four Riders were brought together for the first time as a single artwork, conceived as an installation. Their collective presentation reveals an escalation: from clinical order to deprivation, from deliberate violence to biological finality. The Riders do not appear as allegorical figures, but as consequences of human systems and decisions.
This completed series has been submitted to the Arte Laguna Prize 2026. The submission does not mark an endpoint, but a coherent step within a longer-term artistic inquiry into material, responsibility and contemporary reality.
Arte Laguna provides an international context in which works are read not in isolation, but as artistic positions. The decision to submit this series therefore emerged as a logical continuation of its development.
